A Review: The Scarpa Ribelle Tech 2.0 Boots

A Review: The Scarpa Ribelle Tech 2.0 Boots

The Scarpa Ribelle Tech 2.0 boots are without a doubt a very unique boot that is built to adapt to many different uses and conditions.  They are a bit stiffer than hiking boots, but more flexible than a true mountaineering boot.  Kind of a “hybrid”.
They are designed to be a boot that can be worn on an approach, on a hike, in higher elevations, and in all types of terrain.  The Ribelle Tech 2.0’s have Vibram soles that have an aggressive tred on the bottom, and a durable rand around the boot.  This helps to protect against abrasions and maintain traction in mud, snow, dirt, or rock.
These boots are made to be worn on long distance hikes.  As they are very comfortable, and have a PrimaLoft insulation inside.  I will say that the insulation is not as heavy as some other Scarpa boots, but it is enough for most uses.  The Ribelle Tech 2.0’s are very impressive.
A big part of their comfortable fit is the way that they laced up.  It is off center, but the laces help the boot conform to your foot very well.  The boots also have a “one piece sock” inside the boot.  This sock fit is durable and allows for extra flexibility.
However, I do find it a bit difficult at times to get my feet in and out of these boots.  I have to sit down in a chair or something to put them on or take them off.  Once they are on, they feel great, but it does take some time to get used to taking them off and on.   I do feel that it is worth the effort.  Maybe it’s just me, as I have never owned other boots like these.
Another nice feature of these boots is the HDry membrane that is very breathable and waterproof. The material seems like it will allow water to soak right in, but that’s not the case at all.  I have worn these boots walking through a stream, and not a drop got in to my feet.  I also am impressed at their breathability.  After a long hike, my feet don’t sweat, or stink, even in warmer weather.
The Ribelle Tech 2.0 boots are built to last, as Scarpa makes some of the highest quality boots you’ll ever find.  You get what you pay for here.  Every stich is perfect, and the materials are very strong and durable.  These boots are also semi-automatic crampon compatible.
To conclude, The Scarpa Ribelle Tech 2.0 boots are simply awesome!  A great boot for so many activities.  I mainly wear them for hiking, but I have also worn them in the snow.  They are expensive, but I know that I will have these boots for a long time, and I really do enjoy wearing them.  I get a sense that I’m wearing something special, plus they look really cool!
