All About My YouTube Channel “Me And My Jackets”
Whenever I was interested in buying a new jacket, I’d go on YouTube to see if I could watch a review about it. I wanted to learn a bit more , and see what others felt about that particular piece. Sometimes the videos were helpful, but sometimes there was not very much out there on a given jacket. I found myself often spending a lot of money (often hundreds of dollars) ordering a jacket online and hoping that it would fit, and that I would like it when I received it. Over time, I had bought many different jackets, and I thought that it would be fun to do some reviews on the jackets that I owned. So, I decided that I’d give it a try, and start my own YouTube Channel.
My main objective was to provide as much information about the jacket as possible. I wanted to help others, like myself, who wanted to buy a certain jacket but were not able to actually see it at a store, try it on, and see first hand exactly what they were spending all their money on. I want to make videos that could help people understand what the jackets are all about, and feel confident with their purchases, knowing that what they are buying is the right choice for their needs.
I like to call my videos “All Abouts” rather than “Reviews”, as my goal is to tell you all about the piece. I am not interested in giving you my opinion about what I like or dislike about a jacket, as my opinion only means something to me, and others will feel differently about certain things. I want to give you as much information as I can about the piece, and it’s up to you to decide whether or not it’s what you like, and if it will work for your needs. These are very practical facts about the jackets, what the materials are like, how it fits, can you layer with it, and what features does it have. All kinds of helpful information to help you understand what the Jacket is all about.
In the future I am planning to expand this channel to more products used for all of your fun outdoor adventures, other than just jackets. Products including base layers, pants, boots, sunglasses and backpacks. “What to wear when we go out there…” Everything from head to toe.
Thank you for your support!
How I make The Videos
I cleaned out and setup a corner of my basement to be a little video recording studio. The large professional greenscreen is a really nice piece from Manfrotto, and is attached to a lightweight aluminum frame, it is 13′ x 7′. I use three standard work lights with LED bulbs from Home depot to light the greenscreen. The main lighting is all from Aputure. A large Light Storm 300X with a light dome II is on my right, and a smaller Light Storm 60 D with a hood is on my left side. Above me, I use two to four Aputure MC mini lights. A nice shotgun mic connected to a Zoom X8 records the sound to my camera, a Fujifilm XT-4 with a 50mm 2.0 lens. The videos are all edited using Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve.
